About RTV
Anti-pollution and anti-electrical arcing coatings known as RTV are specialized silicone coatings which, due to their unique properties—particularly hydrophobicity—prevent the formation and accumulation of moisture and contaminants on surfaces. As a result, even over time and when exposed to environmental pollutants, the coated surfaces remain clean.
These coatings also inhibit the flow of electrical current. By keeping surfaces clean, they prevent surface leakage currents caused by the presence of moisture and pollution. RTV coatings are electrically neutral and non-charged, and they exhibit excellent adhesion to the underlying substrate. In addition, RTV silicone coatings show high resistance to environmental factors such as rain, hail, humidity, and solar radiation.

Applications of Silicone Coatings
These coatings are commonly used to coat insulators supporting high-voltage transmission lines. Electrical discharge in the form of arcing from transmission lines to supporting structures has long been a persistent challenge in the power transmission industry. Although insulating supports (insulators) such as ceramic insulators are typically used to isolate transmission lines, in certain climatic conditions—such as areas with high humidity, rain, fog, dew, and dust—this issue becomes a serious threat to power transmission and distribution systems.
The root cause is the formation of moisture and the accumulation of environmental contaminants on the surface of insulators, which leads to electrical arcing and subsequent leakage current along the insulator surface. This phenomenon disrupts the reliable operation of power transmission systems. Therefore, the use of coatings that can prevent moisture formation and contamination on insulator surfaces is an effective and definitive solution to eliminate this problem.
RTV silicone coatings, due to their anti-hydrophobic degradation and anti-pollution properties, fully address and resolve this need.
